One of the projects I looked at was about a robot that moves along a ship and cuts it apart with lasers. The supervisor went through his slides with me. Which algorithms I would build and how the computer vision would work. He was really into it and I liked that. At some point I asked if the robot was here. He said no. It was a joint European project and the robot was somewhere in France. He didn't seem to find that strange at all. I did. Nobody there could actually show me it existed. How do you spend years of your life on a machine nobody can show you?
